Knowing The Truth

Man is always seeking for truth, there is something in us that desperately cries out for truth. We must know the truth, as such we seek answers to our infinite questions. But to know that which is true we must know the Truth (the model of that which is true – the person on Christ Jesus). We must have a revelation of him. This Truth is a spiritual reality and can only be apprehended with the spiritual faculty. You cannot grasp the Truth with your natural reasoning and intellect. Your rebellious reasoning and dead intellect will fail you. They have been alienated from the Truth in the fall and they can never lead you to him. It is only that which is spiritual (which have been reconciled with the God who is spirit) would be able to apprehend the Truth.
“That which is spiritual is able to try all things [he examines, investigates, inquires into, questions, and discerns all things], yet is himself to be put on trial and judged by no one [he can read the meaning of everything, but no one can properly discern or appraise or get an insight into him].” (1Cor 2:15).
To know a truth and to find an answer we must know the Truth. Once you’ve seen the Truth and become acquainted with the Truth everything becomes familiar and you would be able to inquire into all truth and understand them. This is why the spiritual man could understand all things, for he has become so acquainted with the Truth that when he comes across something that is new to him he is able to understand it because he has seen the reality of it in the Truth. Many a times when we pursue special truth we would never find the answer, it is often like the more we dig the more confuse we are. This is why seeking to know the Truth is far better than pursuing specific truth.
The Church is structured in such a way that we pursue many individual truths. We gather around topics, trying to study that Christian thing and this other Christian thing. So many Christian things to learn and pursue that we lose sight of the one who is the Truth – we ignore the very author of our faith (Christ). So distracted are we with our many topics, why can’t we focus on the very one we are called to look onto; “Looking onto Jesus” (Heb 12:2). Let us seek desperately to know the one who is the Truth and we shall know and understand the many other truths.
